A former National Australia Bank employee, Dennis Nguyen, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for stealing AUD 489,000 from customers. Nguyen’s criminal turn came after losing AUD 20,000 in a cryptocurrency scam in late 2021, which nearly wiped out his life savings.

The ex-banker Leveraged his institutional knowledge to create fake accounts at Commonwealth Bank, systematically siphoning funds from NAB customers. This case highlights the dangerous intersection of financial expertise and crypto-related desperation.
